Betül Aksu

(b.1990, Izmir, Turkey. Lives and works in London and Izmir)
Betül Aksu is an artist based in London and Izmir, working across installation, performance, text, video, and printmaking. Her work examines how bureaucratic language governs movement, presence, and the right to appear. It moves between the administrative present and inherited histories of displacement, following what the record leaves out. She is the founder of sezon, an artist-run space in Izmir, and co-initiator of the Vranofça Archive. Her work has been presented internationally, including Sharjah Biennial 16; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Skopje; Auto Italia, London; AVTO, Istanbul; and Material, Zurich. She has undertaken residencies at the Irish Museum of Modern Art and SAHA Studio, and participated in the BAK Fellowship for Situated Practice and the Istanbul Biennial Production and Research Programme.
